Product Body uses fresh local ingredients whenever possible. For example, we buy tupelo honey from a Florida apiary that maintains bee colonies and tupelo trees in the Apalachicola river basin. Our sugar comes from a local producer as well, and in the case of imported butters like Shea (which comes from the shea nut grown in Africa) we work with local importers, keeping truck travel to a minimum.

The deal on natural ingredients: If you buy a lot of body products (or makeup, or food, or pretty much anything else) you hear a lot about natural ingredients. The first thing to keep in mind is that a lot of companies just don't tell the truth about what's in their products. At Product Body, if we mark a product as all natural or vegan, you can be sure it is. The thing is though, that doesn't automatically make it better. For example, there are a lot of natural essential oils that can be irritating to the skin. So while we prefer to make our products all natural and choose natural ingredients rather than their synthetic equivalents, we make final ingredient choices based on what will provide the best and most effective body-safe jar of happiness possible. Finally, this caveat: some scents cannot be created solely using essential oils. In these cases we use the highest quality fragrance oils we can get our hands on. All products that are offered in scents that use fragrance oils are marked as such. Becuase we offer all of them with essential oils or no added scent as well, they will be marked as all natural even though technically the versions made with fragrance oils are not. A general rule of thumb is that most of our citrus scents as well as lavender are made using essential oils while some others do have fragrance oils.
